11.00am Legal Update (1): deprivation of liberty • Cheshire West - where are we now? • Deprivation of liberty in Intensive care settings • Coroners' duties • Private deprivations of liberty, and community DOLS • Children and young people, and parental consent • PJ and MM - the MHA interface • Court of Protection update

1pm Lunch

2pm Legal Update (2): best interests • The importance of wishes and feelings • What happens when past and present wishes and feelings clash, or are uncertain? • best interests v public law decisions (case study)

3pm Break

3.15pm Next steps and law reform • the Law Commission's recommendations for reforming DoLS • the Government response • Joint Committee on Human Rights inquiry • Independent review of the MHA
