The Big Read Book Club - Week 4: Creating common ground in HE

This summer Kingston University wants to keep the Kingston community connected, from new students to alumni and everyone in between. We will be hosting our first-ever series of virtual Book Club meetings, centred around the 2020 Big Read Airhead, written by Newsnight host Emily Maitlis. You'll get to see the chapters of Airhead through the eyes of KU experts in weekly virtual talks from 8 July to 16 September 2020 - a chance you won't want to miss.

For this, our fourth week, we welcome Associate Professor Carmel Blackie, from Kingston's Primary Health Care and Community Nursing, who will talk about ‘Creating common ground to promote an effective transition into higher education'.

Carmel will talk about how she builds a sense of community between her cohort of nurses. She talks about how sharing reading and films can help them empathise with situations – and conditions – they may never experience themselves, but may nurse their patients through.

Please note, booking closes at 3pm the day before the event.

Booking is essential to attend this event.
