Speaker(s): Associate Professor Jason Piper
This summer Kingston University wants to keep the Kingston community connected, from new students to alumni and everyone in between. We will be hosting our first-ever series of virtual Book Club meetings, centred around the 2020 Big Read Airhead, written by Newsnight host Emily Maitlis. You'll get to see the chapters of Airhead through the eyes of KU experts in weekly virtual talks from 8 July to 16 September 2020 - a chance you won't want to miss.
This is the last talk in the programme and will be focusing on the chapter titled #MeToo and The Chippendales (p.260).
This week's discussion will focus on the chapter in which Emily Maitlis interviewed members of the male dance group The Chippendales in Las Vegas. Her interview examines the ways in which #MeToo issues intersect with male performers' experiences. Associate Professor of Dance Jason Piper will further explore the power dynamic between audience members and live performers.
Please note, booking closes at 3pm the day before the event.
Booking is essential to attend this event.
