Upgrade Masterclasses are a way to bring smart thinking from our academics and alumni together and share insights onwards with alumni and students.  

How do successful individuals construct a perfect pitch? Our Upgrade Masterclass will help you to frame your motives, processes and outcomes in order to influence others with the skills and tips to Deliver a Winning Pitch.

Constructing a solid pitch is a powerful skill for everyone, whether it's for a business investment, research and fundraising grants, a new project in the workplace, or auditions and interviews.

Our panel of experts include a wealth advisor and award-winning entrepreneurs from engineering, business and technology. With a wide range of perspectives, you can be sure to pick up ideas and tips to refine how you work no matter your industry or role.

Meet the panel

Dr
 Yuliana Topazly
 (MSc Business Studies and Research 2008) 
is a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and KBS Lead on Students Start-Up Initiatives at Kingston Business School. Yuliana also supports various Enterprise programmes around the country including MSDUK and UCL Accelerators and Cambridge University EnterpriseTECH programme. 

Yuliana is an award-winning social entrepreneur and experienced business advisor with a focus on mentoring families and women from disadvantaged backgrounds. In 2016, Yuliana was named in the ‘Top 100 Most Inspiring Mentors in the country' by The Sunday Times and the Centre for Entrepreneurs. She won Croydon Business Awards twice and was featured in the Alison Rose report on female entrepreneurship in 2019. Most recently Yuliana was named in the WISE 2020 List: ‘100 Social Enterprise Leaders showing Covid who is the boss!'

Ana Pavlovic (MSc Structural Design & Construction Management with Sustainability 2016is a structural engineer with a strong interest in innovation and sustainable construction. Currently working as a Senior R&D Engineer for Laing O'Rourke, contributing to the decarbonisation strategy and goals. She has also recently submitted her PhD thesis in area of Basalt FRP prestressed RC elements. Ana carried off the top prize at last year's Vitae Three Minute Thesis national competition – impressing judges with a presentation that demonstrated her passion for concrete and featured the clever use of a giraffe toy from her childhood. Ana Pavlovic was Kingston University's representative in the annual academic competition, which saw research students from 61 institutions submit spoken presentations on their research topic and its significance in just 180 seconds, alongside an image of their choice.

Christian Facey (BA Business 2014) (Forbes 30 Under 30 2021is the CEO and co-founder of AudioMob, the world's first non-interrupting gaming advertising solution that allows game developers to monetise their audience via audio advertising. AudioMob, a venture capital-backed company who recently closed $14m in funding at a $110M valuation, with Investors such as LightSpeed Ventures, Makers Fund, Google, Supernode Global and Atomico's/Sequoia's angel fund. They are tackling an $18bn dollar opportunityAudioMob's work and achievements have been featured in Billboard, Techcrunch, Forbes and Business Insider 

Before founding AudioMob in Q1 2020 Christian worked at two of the best companies in the world. He was a strategist at Google managing up to $100m in advertising spend. At Facebook, a marketing science partner, using cutting edge solutions to measure the true value of advertising. 

0.2% of applications get to work at Google and Facebook and 0.05 percent of startups get funded. While achieving this before the age of 28 was difficult, Christian hasn't always been considered a high flyer. After failing the majority of his A-Levels and attending Kingston University through clearing, Christian has rigorously studied methods to increase his aptitude, training the mind to overcome mental barriers that hinder success. As a result of his successes, Christian also runs a mentoring scheme alongside AudioMob to pass learning over to the younger generation. 

Outside of running AudioMob and mentoring schemes, Christian enjoys video game development, producing hip-hop/jazz music and break dancing! 

Craig Pirtle (BA Politics 1994) Chief Strategy Advisor at B. Riley Wealth Management in Arlington, Virginia, USA. Craig is a 25-year industry veteran who currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer of B. Riley Wealth Management. Prior to assuming his current role, Craig was the Founder and President of Nearside Asset Management, where he provided strategic consulting and business development services to top asset managers and financial firms from 2010-2018. Earlier in his career, Craig was part of Morgan Stanley's wealth management group and served as First Vice President at Wells Fargo. He also served as President of Orbitex Financial Services from 1998-2003.
