Türkiye and Syria earthquake: solidarity event

On 6 February 2023, a high magnitude earthquake struck in Türkiye and Syria at 7.8 on the Richter scale. This was followed by approximately 78 aftershocks and then a second earthquake of 7.5 magnitude. Countless lives have been lost and the full scale of this devastating natural disaster is still unfolding.

The School of Law, Social and Behavioural Sciences and the Psychology Society invite you to a solidarity event to support any Kingston students, staff and local community members affected by this shocking crisis.

This event will bring the community together in support of those personally affected, and anyone affected by watching news of this tragedy evolve.

Agenda

  • Academic colleagues at the School will share a message
  • Colleagues from the Student Counselling and Wellbeing services will deliver a talk
  • A youth representative of the UNEP and UNFCC will deliver a talk on "Power to Empower in the midst of the Crisis" and a meditation experience
