Social work conference: Accountability and blame in social work

The Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education is pleased to present this major one-day social work conference, hosted by the School of Social Work.

The conference will provide a forum to debate social work's progress and discuss opportunities for its development. This is an opportunity to update your knowledge of best practice by attending workshops on current social work themes encouraging discussion among social work practitioners, service users, lecturers and students. You will also discover the latest research from the School of Social Work.

Plenary presentations on the day will be 'Reflections on accountability and blame in social work', 'The media, its impact, and seeking to have influence with the media' and 'Celebrating and promoting social work'.

These will be presented by:

  • Sharon Shoesmith, former HMI of Schools and Director of Children's Services, Haringey
  • Ruth Smith, Editor, Community Care
  • Annie Hudson, Chief Executive, The College of Social Work and former DASS and then DCS, Bristol

Bookings for this event are now CLOSED and no further bookings can be taken.

There will be no registration on the day and ONLY people who have registered will be admitted.
