Password support

If you are unable to login to your account, maybe you have forgotten your password or your password needs changing.

Please note - to avoid issues logging in, you must ensure your password is changed on all devices that are connected to Kingston University services.

Forgotten password

If you have forgotten your password, you can use our online Forgotten password tool. You must supply the personal email address you have recorded via OSIS/enrolment (or via Unified if you are staff).

  1. Check your personal email account, as you will receive a 'Kingston University Account Support Request' email from Kingston University Support
  2. Open the email, follow the link, enter your new password and submit.
  3. You can now log in with your new password.

Change your password

You can change your password using the online password changer. If you have just changed your password but are unable to log in, please contact the IT Service Desk for support.

The use of a complex password is essential in order to protect your identity and the security of the University. Creating a complex password is now recommended by major organisations such as banks.

Create a complex password by choosing a memorable passphrase made up of three random words including three of the following:

  1. Uppercase letter/s
  2. Lowercase letter/s
  3. Number/s
  4. Special character/s (...@#*....)

Your password:

  • Must be at least 8 characters long.
  • Must NOT contain your name or username.
  • Must NOT contain common proper nouns.

Password top tips

  • Change your password regularly.
  • Use a different password for all services outside the University.
  • Never write your passwords down or save them in an obvious place such as on your phone.
  • Always use a complex password or pin on smartphones and tablets.
  • Remember that no reputable organisation will ask you to supply your username and password details in an email or over the phone.
  • As a general security measure, it is advisable that you change your password periodically. Or you may simply wish to set your new password to something more memorable or secure.

Is this site secure?

Yes. All pages dealing with login information are encrypted. The information you provide is stored in a secure and encrypted data location and is not available to Kingston University support staff.

Please note: that Kingston University will never ask for your username and password via email. Neither should any legitimate organisation/service.

Should you be suspicious of any email asking you to enter security information, or with a link to a website asking for such information then we strongly advise you to go to the website manually (as you normally would) rather than using any links embedded within the email, and to check the URL (site address) thoroughly.
