Sustainable Design MA deliver arts in health and social care workshopKingston University, together with the Rose Theatre and The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, are actively working together to improve the local community.

Following recent local and national initiatives such as the Care Act 2014, a workshop was held with the aim of strengthening links between providers and commissioners with a focus on health and wellbeing.

Dr Paul Micklethwaite and Sustainable Design MA students designed and delivered the session that saw local arts and social care service providers discussing how to strengthen the role of the arts in health and social care in Kingston borough.

The aim of the 'co-design' workshop was to identify what is currently taking place across the borough, and then to look at opportunities for the service providers to consider future collaborative working and access to funding streams.

Attendees represented organisations covering creative arts and music, heritage, services for older people, drug and addiction recovery, and the Citizen's Advice Bureau.

The next phase of the project will focus on putting their ideas into practice
