Humanities courses at Kingston cover creative writing, English and geography. There are opportunities for you to combine your passions by studying two subjects in a combination course.
Our creative writing and English degrees have a practical emphasis: you'll learn to think creatively, analyse perspectives, evaluate problems, and frame an argument and present ideas effectively. Your learning experience is enhanced through exciting talks and workshops from well-known writers like Samira Ahmed, an award-winning journalist; David Jenkins, editor of Little White Lies, a bi-monthly movie magazine and Alex Stedman, fashion blogger at The Frugality and former style editor at Red magazine. Many of our graduates have had their work published. Recently, Oyinkan Braithwaite's debut novel My Sister, The Serial Killer was longlisted for the Booker Prize 2019.
Geography students will take their learning outside the classroom with UK and overseas fieldwork, which will enable you to put theory into practice and to develop confidence in different environments. Field trips bring studies to life, teaching important skills and techniques for your career - past destinations have included Crete, Santorini, Wales, South Africa and Malta. Our geography course is accredited by the Royal Geographical Society.
Many of our courses have an integrated foundation year or the option to undertake a placement year. Click on the course you're interested in below to find out more.
