Research project: Adaptive recovery systems for planetary landers.

Abstract

This study will examine the possibilities for alternate designs and materials for EDL systems designed for planetary landers.

As the desire to place higher mass payloads on the surface of Mars and other planetary bodies increases, the need to create new aerodynamics decelerators and other EDL systems to meet these challenges becomes even more important.
