Research project: The Carriage and the Ivy - a 300 year journey

Abstract

My novel will be the journey through time of an item of family furniture from its original construction to the present day told in the voice of the cabinet.  The work will look at the history this piece of carved furniture as well as the influences of local and social history in the locations and on the family with whom it has lived.  Some of my research is focused on the It novel genre, popular in the Eighteenth century, looking at voice and satire of the object characters.
