Research project: An investigation into the antimicrobial activity of constituents from various Vepris and Croton species

Abstract

The east Africa community uses their traditional plants to heal from certain deceases. They learned how to utilise these herbs by their ancestors, without having done the research to analyse their components to know their exact healing properties.

This PhD project will interest to investigate novel phytochemical components of various Vepris and Croton plant species, from east Africa, and to determinate their antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Moreover, it will be a crucial answer to the government's plan for the current crisis of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
