Damian P Chapman

Head of School

About

I joined Kingston University as Head of the Design School for Kingston School of Art. I lead the celebrated portfolio of innovative and highly creative departments in Fashion, Graphic Communication design, Illustration Animation and 3D Design.

With an MA from Central St Martins UAL and currently pursuing a doctorate at the RCA in disruptive approaches to search & retrieval UX in UiD, I have a lifelong ambition and dedication to design education's ability to greatly improve people's lives and their future potential.

As a design professional and having built and worked-on numerous campaigns for advertising and design projects spanning 20 years, I have created fashion imagery to still-life works, drinks and brand focused FMCG campaigns running photographic/design projects with a broad range of illustrious international design agencies.

I come to Kingston University at a very positive time for Kingston School of Art with outstanding UG and PG courses leading sector league tables. The investment in Kingston University workshops and facilities nearing completion at the Knights Park campus over the coming year with further improvements designed to build on the excellent student experience and research culture in the school.

I am delighted to join this wonderful institution. Kingston students are at the very forefront of the design industries, and through building on the innovative and socially responsible work here in the Design School, we will nurture and celebrate creativity as one of the key value drivers for society.
