Study English and creative writing

Are you a budding novelist, Netflix screenwriter or experimental poet? Our English and creative writing courses will teach you the art and craft of writing in all its forms. Taught by published authors, you'll gain a wide range of skills across creative and non-fiction genres.

Many of our graduates have had their work published. Recently, Oyinkan Braithwaite's debut novel My Sister, The Serial Killer was longlisted for the Booker Prize 2019. Through our Writers' Centre, Kingston, you'll have opportunities to get involved in a huge range of professional and creative activities, including poetry festivals and readings by guest authors.

If you're interested in film and the creative industry, our creative writing and film cultures course encourages you to explore the relationship between film and other cultural forms, and to express your understanding through creative writing, including film scripts, as well as traditional essays.

You'll take part in masterclasses from experts in a range of film-related careers, such as journalism, scriptwriting, festival management and archiving.
