Kingston Choral Society marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death with a deliciously varied programme of Shakespearean music. Vaughan Williams' cantata based on The Merry Wives of Windsor and Finzi's exquisite Shakespeare songs rub shoulders with a fascinating tribute by the 18th-century composer Thomas Linley and the seductive Songs and Sonnets by jazz pianist George Shearing.

Rossini, famous chiefly for his operas, composed only a small number of sacred works, of which this 'Little Solemn Mass' is the best known. Its music is rich, varied and attractive, with a series of characteristic solos and ensembles; it also includes several large-scale choruses. The accompaniment is provided by two pianos and a harmonium.
