Job applicant advice for Kingston University vacancies

We are delighted that you have chosen to apply for a Kingston University job vacancy. On this page you will find information to help you with the application process.

Applying for a vacancy

All current vacancies can be found on the search for jobs page. After browsing job details, you can use the 'apply' link at the bottom of the page to complete an application for a specific job, at which point you will be prompted to save your details and set up a personal login account.

During the application process you can use the 'summary page' link at the top of the page, or the 'save' or 'cancel' links at the end of the page to return to the summary. If you wish, you can save and logout at any time. You can login to progress and/or finish your application at any time prior to the submission deadline. Only when you submit your application will we proceed with advancing your interest in a vacancy.

You can apply for multiple vacancies. The standard information you enter such as contact details and education can be copied over to subsequent applications. Only job-specific responses, such as the supporting statement will not be available.

Please note that pages timeout after 40 minutes if you do not save or move between screens. Information already entered will be saved and you will be returned to the login screen.

Creating a login account

During the application process you will be prompted to set up your own account to allow your personal details to be saved. The password you select must:

  • be at least seven characters long;
  • contain letters and numbers;
  • contain upper and lower case characters; and
  • not contain symbols or special characters.

If you have forgotten your password, you can request it to be emailed to you.

To change email address and/or password, first log in using your existing details then select the link to 'main details'; then 'modify log in details'.

Please note that you cannot apply or access your application using a mobile device.

Guidance for applicants

Right to work in the UK

If you are successful in your application, you will be required to demonstrate your right to work in the UK before you start work with us. Please visit the right to work checklist to view which documents are acceptable.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) procedure

The University is committed to safeguarding and protecting children and vulnerable groups. The majority of our posts will not require a DBS disclosure, however where they do, we act in accordance with the eligibility criteria as set out by the Vetting and Barring Scheme.

Our DBS procedure for staff (PDF) will ensure a fair process is applied to all our recruitment and is in line with the Rehabilitation of Ex-Offenders Act 1974. All applicants will need to disclose any unspent (current) convictions at the outset of the recruitment process.

Completing and submitting an application

Our online recruitment portal makes your application anonymous so that the panel members cannot see any of your personal details such as your name or address or any equalities data such as your gender. This is to ensure that shortlisting is as fair as possible.

However if you upload a CV or publications list which includes any of these details then they will be visible to the panel. If you wish your application to be fully anonymous then please remove details such as your title, name and address from your uploaded documents.

A maximum of two documents to support your application, including your CV, can accompany the online information requested.

When you are ready, submit your application before the advertised deadline. You can only submit your application once all sections have been completed and have a tick next to them on the summary page.

Once submitted you can view your application, but cannot make any further changes. Late submissions will not be considered for shortlisting.

When to contact Human Resources

You should contact HR for assistance if you wish to:

  • edit your application after submission or change/add supporting documents;
  • withdraw your application after submission; or
  • report system issues and need support in applying for a post.
