Through our range of activities we hope to demonstrate to students that engineering is a rewarding profession with a range of career opportunities.
All activities involve the chance to see the specialist labs and cutting-edge equipment, as well as problem-solving tasks that challenge students.
Our engineering activities are suitable for students studying engineering and related STEM subjects, or those that are interested in pursuing a career in this field.
The following sessions can be delivered either in school/college or at Kingston University (please specify at booking which you prefer):
Our inaugural civil engineering visits have been hugely popular with pupils from Year 9 to 12 and we are pleased to be able to offer further sessions to schools and colleges who have yet to benefit from this fantastic experience.
Pupils will be able to learn more about the world of civil engineering and the opportunities available to them from experts in their field, supported by current university students. They will also get into the mind-set of an engineer and have the chance to grapple with problems faced by current engineers through a range of hands-on sessions, including a 'bridge-building' challenge (not your typical rolls of newspaper!) and a tour of our lab and campus facilities.
"Building the bridge model was very interesting as well as the tour of the workshops." – Pupil comment
"Our students got an enormous amount from the day, they were really engaged the whole time, asking pertinent questions and deepening their understanding." – Teacher comment
Engineering Your Future is aimed at those studying science, maths or engineering and is a fun, interactive and informative way for them to discover the amazing careers available in engineering.
Run by Kingston University – in partnership with leading industry employers National Instruments, BP and Transport for London – the day consists of a number of interactive activities hosted by young professionals from different engineering disciplines. There will also be the chance to meet people currently studying in this exciting field and demonstrations in our engineering labs and workshops.
Mid-morning refreshments and lunch are provided, plus parking is available on site.
