I am a dedicated scholar with a diverse background in biosciences. I am pursuing a PhD in Biosciences and have reached the halfway point in my doctoral journey. My research focuses on the intricate interplay between genetics and environmental factors, particularly concerning the development of cardiovascular diseases. With a specialized interest in the role of Gene x Environmental Interaction, I am committed to expanding our understanding of how these factors contribute to the onset and progression of such critical health issues. My qualifications also include degrees in Microbiology, Health Promotion and Public Health, and mental health nursing, which have laid a strong foundation for my research endeavours. Beyond my academic pursuits, I have dedicated a significant portion of my career to improving the mental health and well-being of individuals in my community. As an experienced Mental Health Nurse, I have spent years working primarily within acute and community settings, including the Home Treatment Team. My passion for mental health and an unwavering desire to support those struggling with mental health challenges have driven my career choice. I have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, having successfully managed teams and played a pivotal role in setting up new service areas within the National Health Service (NHS). My collaboration with Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in my last clinical role reflects my commitment to enhancing mental health services and ensuring those in need receive the care and support they deserve. In addition to my research and clinical work, I am a dedicated educator. I contribute to the field of Life Sciences by teaching in the Life Sciences module and sharing my deep knowledge and passion for the subject with aspiring nurses. Furthermore, I play a crucial role in educating the next generation of mental health professionals as part of the teaching team for the Introduction to Mental Health module, where I provide students with valuable insights into the complexities of mental health care. My contributions extend to the Safe and Effective Care module, where I lead and teach, instilling the importance of providing safe and compassionate care to future healthcare practitioners. Through my dedication to research, commitment to mental health advocacy, and passion for education, I have significantly contributed to the scientific and healthcare communities. My multifaceted career exemplifies my unwavering commitment to improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities alike.
