I have been a qualified Social Worker since 1984 and worked as a local authority social work practitioner or manager for 33 years, culminating in 12 years Safeguarding Adults service lead roles in two London boroughs. Since September 2017, I have completed regular Safeguarding Adults Reviews and I have Safeguarding Adults and MCA training contracts across local authority, hospital and care home settings. Since September 2018, I have also been employed as a Senior Lecturer in Social Work (0.5) at Kingston University. I have a keen interest in using experiential training and teaching methods, to improve practice learning. In my lecturer role, I also have responsibility as the BA Social Work final year lead, tutorial relationships, coordinating a Royal Literary Fund support to students on academic writing, coordinating the contribution of Teaching Consultants (professionals in practice) and People with Lived Experience to teaching sessions and also contributing to inter-disciplinary learning with nursing students, and taking a lead role in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives within the university (including a current visibility project).
