Mark Brown qualified as RNLD in 1990 and practised in the NHS services until 2009 when he founded Special Help 4 Special Needs. Within his practice, Mark has worked in a range of services, including adult residential, children and community based. Throughout his career, Mark has been passionate concerning a range of issues relating to individuals with a learning disability, but in the last two decades there has been an emphasis upon the sex education and sexuality aspect. This has included working with individuals who display harmful sexual behaviour including those within the Criminal Justice System and the development of a sex education programme for autistic individuals. Mark has been part of the SOTSEC-ID framework for men with intellectual disabilities who sexually offend and the Keeping Safe programme for teenagers. In addition to this work, Mark spends considerable time working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism around issues of anxiety on an individual person centred basis.
