I trained as a Registered Mental Nurse when I left school and worked as a Community Psychiatric Nurse for nearly two decades before retraining as a primary school teacher. After several years' teaching, from Reception to Year 6, I moved into Higher Education and joined the work-based learning team at Kingston University in 2017.
In addition to teaching on the BA Top Up courses in Early Years and Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Practice (SENIP), I was the Liaison Officer for our partner colleges, a role which meant I worked closely with our Foundation Degree students and their tutors.
Now semi-retired, I work as an Hourly Paid Lecturer, but I remain involved with the programmes.
In 2021, a book chapter I co-wrote on 'The Need for Health and Wellbeing' was published by Bloomsbury.
My research interests include student engagement, child protection and supporting teachers' wellbeing.
In my spare time, I enjoy travel, cinema and riding my bicycle.
