About

 I graduated from the MA Fashion course St Martin's School of Art in 1981 and began my academic career from industry as a visiting tutor .I taught at Scottish College of Textiles, Edinburgh College of Art Manchester Metropolitan University and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology

 I was invited to join Kingston University as Course Director of BA Fashion in 2004 whilst I was Course Leader at Ravensbourne, where I won the Governor's award for Excellence.

I was promoted to Academic Director in 2011, Associate Head of School in 2013and Head of Department in 2015.

 I gained my Associate Professorship in the first round of PL conversions

I have been an External Examiner at ECA, WCA, UCA CSM, Herriot Watt and Falmouth University and invited onto validation panels at De Montfort, UCA Rochester and at Lincoln. University.

I have been invited onto European juries at Instituto Marangoni in Paris, UdK in Berlin and at the International Fashion Design Seminar in Hong Kong,

I was invited to speak about British Fashion Education at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University international conference and delivered a paper on the Future of Graduate Fashion shows at the IFFTI conference in Beijing

I have secured sponsorship and fully paid internships with key international companies Brooks Brothers Banana Republic, Urban Outfitters, Tommy Hilfiger, H&M, Inditex (Zara) and Bentalls.

I revalidated the MA Fashion course in 2007.

The BA Fashion course at Kingston under my direction is currently ranked 2nd in The Guardian Fashion & Textiles league tables and 2nd in the Business of Fashion Global School Rankings. Applications and conversion to BA Fashion are the highest in Kingston University.

I added a 4-year sandwich course option and secured a placement officer for Fashion and am actively involved in securing top institutions for Erasmus and Study Abroad.

I am an Academic Trustee on Graduate Fashion Foundation and member of the British Fashion Council Colleges Steering Group. I was also nominated onto the Industry Education sub committee at IFFTI in 2017.

The 2nd edition of my popular book ‘Developing a Fashion Collection ‘is published by Bloomsbury.
