About this course
Why choose this course?
This course enables you to develop creative skills in the use of music technology, along with musicianship, composition and performance. The emphasis is on creativity and practical engagement with a range of music through technology. You will also learn advanced skills in recording, production and sound manipulation.
What will you study?
In Year 1, specialist music technology skills will be studied along with recording techniques. You will also learn key musical and study skills while developing your specialist composition or performance work, and will have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of performing activities from Western and world music traditions.
In Year 2 you will continue exploring studio, recording and production techniques while further developing your creative skills in composition and/or performance. You will investigate sound synthesis and composing to image. You will also learn key research skills as well as practical skills in putting on events.
The key module in Year 3 is the Individual Project, which enables you to undertake your choice of special study supported by personal tutorials or individual instrumental lessons. You will also attend research seminars given by visiting speakers, and choose modules from a range of topics to further develop your musical interests.
