Kingston University Alumni Reception – Athens, Greece, 19 May 2010

Celebrating success and achievements

Kingston University's fifth annual alumni reception took place in the formal gardens of the British Ambassador's Residence, Athens on Wednesday 19 May 2010. This year, the event attracted over 200 graduates, applicants, their guests and Kingston University academic staff. Several students about to graduate were welcomed, and representatives from the Hellenic College, British Council, British Graduates Society, ICBS, TEI Piraeus and the Hellenic National Defence College were also present.

The British Ambassador, Dr David Landsman OBE, welcomed attendees and Kingston University's Associate Dean of the Faculty of Business & Law, Dr Stuart Archbold, followed with a short speech. The evening was then taken up with meeting old and new friends, chatting with faculty staff and networking whilst canapés and drinks were served in the lovely gardens.

The Ambassador's wife, Mrs Landsman, kindly displayed a picture of Kingston that had been kept at the residence; a montage of Kingston town landmarks and university campus buildings by former professor of European Culture at Kingston University, Richard Demarco CBE. The picture was popular with alumni who were reunited and reminiscing about their shared experiences of Kingston.

The alumni attending the event ranged from those who graduated last year, right back to those who finished their degree in 1986, with every faculty also represented by graduates of many different courses and subjects.

This hugely popular event celebrates the success and achievements of Kingston University graduates living and working in Greece, and the collaborative partnership between Kingston University and the International Centre for Business Studies (ICBS) in Athens, Thessaloniki and Larissa.
