Kingston University Enterprising Women - selling and negotiating

Businesses gain most of their sales through direct selling: talking face to face or by phone with someone. Your marketing activity may be directed at generating interest, but you need to close the deal! This workshop will take you through a sales negotiation, practising as both seller and buyer (yes, that's important too!) Come along to learn more about the selling process and the actual sales discussion. This will help you to sort out how you approach customers for your business.

Content:

  • Structure of a sales call;
  • Features and benefits;
  • Answering needs and overcoming objections; and
  • Room for negotiation.

Who's it for?

The programme is focused on more early stage businesses and welcomes all women with an idea which they are intent on developing. The idea might be for social or more commercial enterprise, for a product or service, or be an enterprise project which might turn into an enterprise later.

Why focus on women?

  • Women now make up 48 per cent of the labour force in developed economies, but in the UK are about half as likely as their male counterparts to begin new firms (Women in Enterprise: A Different Perspective, RBS Group, 2013).
  • Women constitute 26 per cent of the self-employed and 17 per cent of business owners (UK Labour Force Survey data, 2008).
  • Women who have undergone some form of enterprise training are twice as likely to be engaged in entrepreneurial activity (GEM UK, 2005).
  • 98 per cent of women involved in the pioneering Enterprising Women initiative said women-specific support was either important or very important to them (Enterprising Women Evaluation and Research Report, 2007).

Joining our programme will allow you to network and share experiences with women who are facing similar challenges in juggling home, family and work life. Sessions are free. There is plenty of parking available and the venue is close to bus stops and Tolworth train station.
