Study sustainability

At Kingston, our sustainability-focused courses offer the opportunity to gain an applied understanding of key sustainable design principles, perspectives and practices in order to address social and ecological concerns and develop innovative solutions.

Many of our courses are designed and reviewed by professional accreditation bodies and industry advisors to ensure your learning is at the forefront of industry practice. They are also accredited by leading professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Building, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

Our academic staff are distinguished industry specialists, complementing your studies with a broad mix of experience and enabling you to gain an insight into life as a working practitioner. Our strong links with the creative, engineering, construction and environmental industries mean you will get to work in collaboration with industry, respond to live briefs and attend guest lectures from a wide range of organisations that champion and further sustainability.

The practical emphasis of our courses, access to high quality, inspiring, workshops, and cutting-edge engineering resources give you the freedom to experiment, take risks and develop your interests and agendas in an innovative, vibrant environment.

Many of our courses offer an optional year integrated work placement programme to help you gain valuable, practical industry experience and provide you the opportunity to further relate your studies to a professional environment.

Our graduates have gone on to work in a range of roles and industries, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), cultural organisations, national and regional charitable trusts, private consultancies, professional firms and specialist contractors around the world; many have gone into working freelance or even starting their own business, as well as working for corporations such as Made.com, Hugo Boss, Lenovo, British Airways and more.
