Mr Alex Linghorn

I teach on the MA Applied Linguistics for Language Teachers, with a special focus on sociolinguistics and educational technology. I organise and teach courses for international clients, including teacher training for English language teachers and intensive English language for specific purposes. As part of the English for Academic and Professional Development (EAPD) team, I develop academic writing and skills workshops for students in FASS, SEC and HSCE. I also help co-ordinate the university's Pre-sessional English Courses.

My main areas of linguistic research are English as a lingua franca, World Englishes, new technologies in language teaching and intercultural communication. I also have a research background in the political economy of developing countries, focusing on land reform, and a passion for urban exploration photography!
