Mr Allan Swift

About

I lecture in the Level 6 module 'Writing Television Drama' and am the module leader on Level 5 Screenwriting as well as contributing to modules across both the media and Creative Writing programmes.

I am a practising screenwriter and theatre writer.  I have written for numerous popular television dramas - EastEnders, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, Brookside (which I also directed), The Bill, Casualty and a few others I prefer to forget.  I was the lead writer for CBC Television in Vancouver on their teenage drama series, Northwood and have given lectures in Kuala Lumpur, Sheffield, Liverpool, Vancouver, Royal Holloway, and Southampton universities. I have also taught at The Central School of Speech and Drama, Drama Studio, London, The Guildford School of Acting and East 15 School of Acting. I wrote, produced and directed a play, None But Friends, with Kingston University students which was performed at The Rose Theatre as the centrepiece for the Kingston Youth Arts Festival. I've had various plays performed in London at The Young Vic, The King's Head, The Shaw Theatre, Bridge Lane Theatre and the Cochrane Theatre.
