Welcome Week

We are so excited to welcome you to Kingston in September! Welcome Week will run from 19–23 September for most students.

Welcome Week is just the start of helping to get you settled into the Kingston University family. It's made up of several parts and is all about getting you set up and settled at Kingston!

Welcome Week will offer a mixture of online and on-campus activities and is made up of compulsory course induction sessions and a 'pick and choose' Freshers and Welcome programme which offers a mixture of events and sessions.

*Please also note: some courses start before 19 September; in this case you will be (or already have been) contacted directly by your faculty.

Welcome Help Points

Our on-campus Welcome Help points should be your first stop if you have questions or are not sure where to go. We've got a wonderful bunch of friendly Student Ambassadors who will be ready to give you directions, answer your questions (or just have a chat!)

We've also got FREE Welcome to Kingston Starter packs which can be picked up from the Welcome Help points. They contain a reuseable canvas bag (designed by a KU student), notebook, pen, reuseable coffee cup and other useful stuff to get you started.

Welcome Help Points will be open from 9am to 4:30pm at the following locations:

  • Penrhyn Road - main reception
  • Kingston Hill - outside of the Business School (find us in the gazebo!)
  • Knights Park - outside of the main reception (find us in the gazebo!)
  • Roehampton Vale - outside of the main reception (find us in the gazebo!)

Your course induction

Course Inductions are essential and mandatory to attend. They take place during Welcome Week (19–23 September*) and are an important introduction to your course where you will meet your lecturers, find out about the course, our libraries, study skills and more!

You will be able to access your course induction schedule via the KU app (or brower version) from 1 August.

*Please also note: some courses start before 19 September; in this case you will be (or already have been) contacted directly by your faculty with a schedule.

Freshers and Welcome Programme

The Freshers and Welcome Programme runs alongside your course induction and will introduce you to some of the opportunities you'll have as a Kingston student, help you settle into life at Kingston and give you the opportunity to meet new friends and have some fun!

Most activities will take place on campus during Welcome Week, with some sessions taking place online the week before Welcome Week. More information will be added here as we confirm activities.

Events will be available to view and book from 1 August.

Campus tours

To get you acquainted with your campus, tours will be running during Welcome Week. They will leave from the Welcome Help Points at 11:00 and 15:00 at every campus, from Monday 19 September to Friday 23 September.

There is no sign-up required, but numbers for each tour will be capped at a maximum of 12 people (allocated on a first-come basis). You will be required to wear a mask and please make sure you wear comfortable shoes.

Welcome to Kingston online module

Our Welcome to Kingston online module will give you an introduction to the support services available should you need it.

You can access the online module on Canvas, our virtual online learning environment, once you have completed your online enrolment.*

The module will be on-demand so you can access it at your own pace and at whatever time of day suits you. Once you log into Canvas you'll see the link to the module on your dashboard.

* Individuals who have the status unconditional firm will be invited to complete their online Enrolment from Tuesday 30 August – remember to keep an eye out for these important emails.
