Welcome and Induction Week is just the start of getting you settled into Kingston University. When you join us there will be activities to help you settle into life as a Kingston student, meet new friends and get ready for your studies. The majority of these will be online and many will be made on-demand so you are able to do them at your own pace.
During Welcome and Induction you'll be introduced to your course and Faculty, some of the support services available to you and we'll provide you with the practical information you need to know before you begin your studies.
In the meantime, you can connect with future classmates on our Kingston University Freshers 2021 (Official) Facebook group. This is the one and only official Facebook group run by Kingston University. You can keep-up-to-date with everything you need to know, including when you can book your accommodation and what events you'll be able to take part in. We are aware that there are other groups on Facebook and on other social media platforms that say they are affiliated with the University, however this is the only official Freshers 2021 group managed by the University.
For most students, Welcome and Induction will take place between Monday 1 and Friday 5 March 2021*. However, our series of welcome events will run until the end of March.
If you'd like to find out more about our extra-curricular enrichment activities, book a 15-minute online slot with our friendly student ambassadors who will be able to answer all your questions.
*If you are due to study a course at Kingston Business School (Accounting and Finance, MBA or International Business Management), your Welcome and Induction will look a little different. Your faculty office will be contacting you directly with arrangements for your Welcome and Induction activities.
There are three elements to Welcome and Induction which are essential to give you the best start to your new life at Kingston. They are:
Our Welcome to Kingston online module will give you an introduction to the support services available to you while you are a Kingston student.
You can access the online module on Canvas, our virtual online learning environment, via the module links below as long as you have completed your enrolment.*
The module will be on-demand so you can access it at your own pace and at whatever time of day suits you. Once you log into Canvas you'll see the link to the module on your home page.
*Postgraduate students who have the status unconditional firm will be invited to complete their online Enrolment from Monday 30 November – remember to keep an eye out for these important emails.
Your Welcome activities consist of a short programme of events to introduce you to some of the opportunities you'll have as a Kingston student. Most importantly, they'll help you settle in to life at Kingston and give you the opportunity to meet new people.
The Welcome programme is made up of live, interactive online, events designed for you to experience the best of Kingston student life.
You will be able to view all your Welcome events now, but you won't be able to book them until you have completed your online Enrolment. Some events will be recorded so you can access them on-demand after the event.
If you are unable to make these live sessions, we will be making most of the content available on the Canvas module.
Your course induction is a schedule of sessions designed to give you the best start at Kingston University. The induction schedules are unique to your course and will give you the opportunity to get to know your faculty and subject.
You can now view your course induction on the KU Welcome profile.
If you are due to study a course at Kingston Business School (Accounting and Finance, MBA or International Business Management), your Welcome and Induction will look a little different. Your faculty office will be contacting you directly with arrangements for your Welcome and Induction activities.
To ensure you're ready for your Welcome and Induction activities, make sure you have access to the online platforms where the events are taking place – Canvas and KUextra. You'll also use these a lot as a student so it's definitely worth having a look around them now.
