Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture

All of our courses are closely linked with the creative industries, while our surveying and planning and architecture courses have strong links to industry professional bodies. In addition, industry experts often teach and contribute to the design of our courses.

State-of-the-art facilities include 3D workshops, digital darkrooms, animation suites and a premier filming space. Researchers, practitioners, theorists and historians are engaged in the creative and performing arts, curating, design, architecture, fashion, film, surveying and town planning.

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences

This diverse Faculty includes the Schools of Economics, Education (ranked as third best in the country in the Guardian University League Table), Humanities, Performance and Screen Studies and Social Science. Many of our staff have interests of national and international importance, such as advising government and undertaking economic consultancy.

The Faculty supports several research centres and groups across a broad range of subject areas which help to focus and stimulate research – for example, our renowned Centre for Abuse and Trauma Studies.

Faculty of Business and Law

The Faculty of Business and Law enjoys an increasingly international reputation as a centre of excellence in human resource management; marketing; general management; law; accounting and finance; and informatics and operations management. Working closely with the business world's principal professional bodies, our teaching is informed by a vibrant culture of research and harmonised with the needs of today's business practitioners.

Our research activities play a very important role in the Business School and the Law School. We have a vibrant research community; staff and research students work alongside associates from government, industry and the professions, including collaboration with many blue chip companies (large and small). Our commitment to research is illustrated by the excellent showing by the Business School and Law School in the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008.

Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences  

Working in partnership with St George's, University of London, we one of the leading providers of health and social care education in the UK.

We work closely with employers to continually develop our portfolio of courses and our research and enterprise activities. Operating in a climate of continuing change, we have responded proactively and innovatively to new health and social care policy initiatives to deliver programmes that are at the cutting edge of professional development.

Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing

Set up in 2011, the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing (SEC) brings together three existing faculties at Kingston and aims to encourage interdisciplinary research, improve the scope of the student experience and encourage partnerships between academia and commerce.

Our science research groups include Earth and Environmental Sciences Research, Materials Research, and Biological and Pharmaceutical Research. We also have a range of high-quality, specialist equipment and laboratories for hire under contract in the areas of pharmacy, sports science, analytical chemistry, media technology and 'scene of crime' facilities.

We have an excellent reputation for the quality of our engineering programmes in aerospace manufacturing, mechanical and civil engineering. Services for industry include material/product development and routine/specialist testing. There is also expertise in concrete technology, sustainable construction, waste management, fire resistance, impact loading, hydraulics, and geo-environmental engineering.

Computing expertise includes digital imaging, information systems, mobile and network technologies and ambient intelligence.
