About

I studied architecture at the Glasgow School of Art and the Royal College of Art, and am a practising architect, author and critic. I joined Kingston School of Art in 2021, and previously was teaching at the RCA and Central St Martins. I am the author of the books The Architecture of Failure (2012), Last Futures (2016) and Nincompoopolis (2017), and a wide range of journalism. I am a columnist for Tribune magazine and was previously Architecture Correspondent for Icon magazine.

My research interests include the relationship between concepts of nature and technology in 20th century architecture, post-war housing typologies, and architecture's role in visions of the future and ideological expression.
