Ms Linda Byrne

About

Through my teaching, research and professional practice I have an active interest in the history and future of physical and digital publishing practices in relation to technology. This underpins a rigorous, craft approach to teaching practice and projects.

I am a senior lecturer, and currently co-lead the final year Graphic Design BA program. I hold an MA Book Design with distinction from the University of Reading, a BA in Graphic Design from LCC, and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Formerly a designer at the Walker Art Center, I am currently art-director of the Royal Institute of British Architects Journal and collaborate through Mackinnon Byrne on commissions for architecture and cultural clients.

I have been recognised in the AIGA 50 Books/50 covers, have two AIGA Certificates of Design Excellence and have had work awarded in The Most Beautiful Swiss Books Design Competition. I was a speaker at the Education Forum of Typecon 2019 in Minneapolis, where I gave a presentation titled "Issues and editions: Using publishing to build practice".
