What this course offers you
A law degree plus professional experience – options of up to two summer internships or professional modules, depending on availability; our Professional Readiness Programme and professional development. This is within the timescale, and for the same fee, as the traditional three-year undergraduate degree offered by many other universities. You will acquire new skills, relevant experience and apply what you have learnt to a practical setting.
You will gain a qualifying law degree – one of the requirements for entry into a legal profession.
The course ensures that you also develop skills relevant to a broad range of professional careers.
If you undertake and pass the final-year mediation module (Dispute Resolution), you may qualify for an additional qualification – the National Certificate in Mediation Theory andPractice Award.

Our Business and Professional Experience team provides you with dedicated support and helps you to prepare for your professional experience option. This includes assisting you with the application process, including researching and targeting your internship; writing your CV, cover letters and getting ready for interviews; as well as how to use your internship to benefit your future career. Where possible professional internships are paid. Although these internships are very competitive, our Business and Professional Experience team will work with you every step of the way. Alternative professional activities are available for students including modules such as Professional Practice and Ethics; Mediation; and Dealing with and Managing Change. There is also the option to spend an additional year studying abroad at one of Kingston's partner institutions located all over the world.
You can also work towards achieving our Kingston Award, which is designed to formally recognise your extracurricular activities, as well as developing your employability.
You are assigned apersonal tutor for the duration of your degree, who is advised of the assessments for each module on your course. This enables your tutor to identify and discuss with you areas of strength and weakness in your skills and knowledge set. Your personal tutor remains with you throughout your studies: feedback received in Year 1 will feed forward into subsequent years. This enables your tutor to direct you to appropriate sources of support, guidance and development so you can make the most of your time at Kingston.
