Riverfly monitoring initiative training

We have joined forces with the Riverfly Partnership to take part in the River Monitoring Initiative (RMI) - a national scheme that protects the health of rivers by monitoring their riverfly populations.

The Zoological Society of London is providing training for volunteers who would like to help us monitor the health of the Hogsmill River. To be eligible for training, you must be able to commit to monitoring the river for at least six months - sampling takes place on a
monthly basis.

You will learn:

  • the background of the Hogsmill RMI;
  • how to kick sample a river;
  • how to identify river invertebrates; and]what to do with the RMI data.

You will also meet other volunteers working up and down the Hogsmill River. Plus, everyone involved in the scheme will have a day out at London Zoo.

Booking is essential to attend this event.
