Hundreds of face shields to help protect frontline workers during the coronavirus pandemic are being produced by a team of technicians at Kingston University. The protective face shields are being made using both laser-cutting and 3D-printing equipment in the University's workshops at the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing's Roehampton Vale campus and at Kingston School of Art's Knights Park campus.

Following a 36-year career with professional services multinational Ernst & Young, Mr Small joined the University's governing body in 2015 as chair of its Finance Committee. Kingston University donates supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE) for use by front-line NHS teams across borough during coronavirus outbreak

Gloves, safety glasses, lab coats and masks are among the items Kingston University has donated to local NHS services to help protect front-line staff from coronavirus. The personal protective equipment, usually used in the University's laboratories and workshops, has been packaged up and delivered to Kingston Health Centre and Kingston Hospital during the past few weeks.

Kingston University graduate playing key role in Mars rover mission to search for life on red planet

A Kingston University engineering graduate is hoping to help answer the burning question of whether there is life on Mars when Europe's first rover blasts off for the red planet. Mahilal De Silva has been playing a leading role in the construction of the six-wheeled robotic vehicle for the landmark mission at Airbus' Stevenage facility. Named the Rosalind Franklin after the British DNA pioneer, it is the first Mars rover specifically designed to find evidence of past or present life.
