Popular Music BA(Hons): Events and lectures

How you can get more involved

The Department of Music has a strong commitment to musical activities of all kinds, with regular public concerts on campus, in venues throughout the Kingston area and in London.

Music staff offer support and encouragement to students forming their own bands. There is a thriving local music scene that provides many opportunities for student bands and solo artists. Performing groups may also participate in local events, such as the annual Kingston Live Festival.

Students can also attend the research seminar series.

Music groups

There are opportunities to be involved with music groups such as:

  • Gamelan;
  • Djembe;
  • Chamber Choir;
  • University Chorus;
  • Kingston Chamber Orchestra;
  • Improvisation Ensemble;
  • KUDAC (Kingston University Digital Arts Collective); and
  • Soundpainting.
