Students' Union
Kingston University Students’ Union (KUSU) aims to ‘make life better for Kingston students’. It provides independent support alongside a range of other services to help you enjoy your time here. It also represents the views of students both locally to the University and nationally via the National Union of Students (NUS).
KUSU is a democratically student-led organisation, which holds annual elections for its full- and part-time officers and course reps. It runs:
- a wide range of student-led sports clubs and societies, ranging from rugby and sky diving to faith groups, political organistions and film appreciation;
- the three Students' Union bars (and two shops) on campus;
- t
he social events held during Freshers' Week – an orientation programme that takes place each September to help our new students settle in and get to know each other; - voluntary work in the local community; and
- a skills development programme (known as Headstart).
Taking advantage of these opportunities can really improve your University experience and increase your chances of employment. And if should you need extra support while you’re at Kingston, KUSU also provides an independent advice service, which includes an in-house Citizens Advice Bureau.
KUSU is affiliated to the NUS, which offers a student discount card called NUS Extra.
