In partnership with the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art London, Dr. Jonathan Black researched and curated War in the Sunshine: The British in Italy 1917–1918. Widely reviewed, the 2017 exhibition and accompanying catalogue casts new light on the British forces' contribution to the Allied victory with a series of 75 artworks by wartime painter, Sydney Carline (1888–1929), and two war photographers, Ernest Brooks (1878–-1941) and William Joseph Brunell (b. 1878).
