Vanessa Ross

About

I teach Professional Practice for the post graduate Landscape Architecture / Landscape and Urbanism programmes. I am a Chartered Landscape Architect and Fellow of the Landscape Institute.

My teaching draws on my experience in private practice where I am Director of Arc Landscape Design and Planning Ltd., a private practice specialising in landscape and public realm design, landscape and townscape assessment (LVIA/TVIA) and regularly act as an expert witness on landscape matters. Projects range across all development sectors and we work for both public and private sector clients. Our sites are often within challenging, sensitive settings such as those with landscape or heritage designations.

I also regularly undertake Design Reviews as a member of the Design South East Expert Panel, the Greater Cambridgeshire Design Review Panel and sit on the Ebbsfleet Garden City Design Forum.

I am an approved assessor for Building with Nature which advocates best practice in respect of Green Infrastructure within the built environment.

I am vice chair of the Landscape Institute's Education and Membership Committee and sit on the LI Advisory Council. I am also actively involved in the LI working group on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

I am a Supervisor and Examiner for the Landscape Institute Pathway to Chartership programme (P2C).

In 2021 became a board director of Kingston First where I will be using my experience in public realm design to provide advice within the Kingston Business Improvement District.
