||Planning application early 2017
Kingston School of Art (the new name from September 2017) is recognised as one of the leading art and design schools in the world.
To maintain this outstanding reputation and competitive edge it is important the facilities meet the same high standards. We are planning to refurbish the existing New Extension building to make it more in keeping with the faculty needs. Our proposals involve updating the internal layout, improving the external appearance and replacing the existing Mill Street student residential accommodation with new academic space.
On Wednesday 7 December 2016, we held a public consultation event and displayed our design proposals for the New Extension building. At this event we sought feedback from residents which we took on board as we finalised the overall design.
In March 2017 we hosted a follow-up exhibition to present the updated plans which we submitted to the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames on 17 March 2017.
Following our consultation with the local community, councillors and officers and we have considered feedback and submitted our planning application on 17 March 2017.
Work will start in 2017 and be completed in 2019.
