Kingston University have submitted a planning application for the next phase of development of our Kingston Hill campus – a new building for our School of Education, incorporating a modern energy centre that will power the building and be able to serve other buildings on campus in the future.
The new building would be located at the heart of the campus on the current site of a dated, poor-quality building. We are proposing a high-quality teaching and learning environment for students, staff and visitors. We have taken great care to design a building which preserves the character and appearance of the conservation area. The building will be designed and built to achieve Passive House certification, a leading international low energy design standard. We believe this will be the first university teaching building in the UK to meet this standard.
We held a planning exhibition in September 2016, refined our proposals and consulted stakeholder groups, before submitting a planning application in November 2016.
This is the next step in our 10-year plan to continue to improve and transform our campuses so that we can provide upgraded facilities and an even better teaching and learning experience for students, staff and the local community.
