Applications are now open for the 2026 Niloufar Ebrahim Bursary in Memory of Flight PS752 Victims.
The bursary commemorates Kingston Graduate Niloufar and her husband, Saeed Tahmasebi Khademasadi, who were among the 176 passengers and crew members tragically killed when Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 was downed in Iran six years ago today on January 8, 2020, by surface-to-air missiles launched by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) shortly after departing Tehran.
“Niloufar loved her time at Kingston University and was known for her compassion and commitment to uplifting others. This bursary honours the legacy of Niloufar, her husband Saeed, and all the victims of Flight PS752, while supporting future scholars in pursuing their goals." – Navaz Ebrahim, sister of Niloufar and Vice President of the Association of Families of Flight PS752 Victims.
The bursary is part of an ongoing five-year partnership between the Ebrahim family and Kingston University and is worth £1,000 with the family’s generous £500 donation being matched by the Kingston University's International Team.
Navaz explained why the bursary is focused on women living in Iran:
“Following the killing of Mahsa Jina Amini, our family prioritized women applicants living in Iran for the 2024 Niloufar Scholarship and continued this focus with the launch of the Niloufar Bursary in 2025. Women in Iran continue to courageously pursue the same values Niloufar stood for—justice, dignity, and equality.
“The Ebrahim family is proud to recognize Sara, an Iranian woman, as a recipient of the Niloufar Ebrahim Bursary in memory of Flight PS752 victims. Sara is the fourth woman scholar supported through the Niloufar initiatives and the second Iranian woman to receive this recognition. Previously, Maria, Minahil and Delaram received the Niloufar Scholarship and graduated with high honours.”
