Kingston University teams up with Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability to launch RHN Academy to shape future of neuro-disability nursing

Kingston University is partnering with the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) to launch the RHN Academy, a new centre of excellence dedicated to developing the next generation of nurses and healthcare professionals specialising in neuro-disability.

The Academy combines RHN’s nationally-recognised clinical expertise with Kingston University’s academic excellence to offer accredited postgraduate modules and continuing professional development (CPD) courses that will strengthen the specialist workforce across the NHS and independent healthcare sector.

The Academy has been created in response to the growing demand for highly skilled professionals caring for people living with complex neurological conditions. Courses have been developed by specialist clinicians working at the forefront of neuro-disability. They are delivered within an authentic clinical environment, giving learners access to advanced clinical practice, interdisciplinary learning and some of the UK’s most complex neurological care pathways.

The initial programme includes a Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) in Neuro-disability Nursing Practice, alongside specialist academic modules covering neurorehabilitation, long-term ventilation and the management of long-term neurological conditions, as well as a growing portfolio of CPD courses.

The partnership ensures every accredited programme meets rigorous academic standards while remaining firmly rooted in contemporary clinical practice, giving healthcare professionals the knowledge and confidence to improve patient outcomes and build long-term careers in specialist neuroscience nursing.

The RHN Academy has been designed to support NHS Trusts, independent neuro-care providers and wider health systems by developing specialist capability, strengthening workforce retention and creating future clinical leaders in neuro-disability. Alongside accredited education, the Academy will also work with organisations to design bespoke workforce development programmes and build neuro-disability expertise at scale.
