About
I am an Associate Professor and the School Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange in the School of Education, Midwifery and Social Work at Kingston University London, where I have been based since October 2015. Previously, I was a Lecturer in Education at Plymouth University, and before entering academia, I spent several years teaching in primary schools across Greece and the UK.
In my current role, I lead and support research and knowledge exchange activities across the School, contribute to postgraduate research development, supervise doctoral projects, conduct my own research, and teach across a range of programmes.
My research lies at the intersection of mathematics education and gifted education, with a particular focus on identifying and nurturing mathematical promise and uncovering hidden potential. I am especially interested in the educational experiences of twice-exceptional students—those who are both gifted and have additional learning needs—and the ways in which their talents and challenges intersect, particularly in mathematics. Since 2006, my work has explored school practices in primary education in England, with recent projects examining the underachievement and support needs of twice-exceptional learners.
I supervise doctoral students on both PhD and EdD programmes and welcome inquiries from prospective students whose interests align with my research areas.
