About
As Dean, I chair the Faculty for Engineering, Computing and the Environment (ECE) Leadership Team, strategically guiding the development and direction of its three schools. I also serve as the Learning and Teaching lead for ECE, am a member of the university's Senior Leadership Executive and am an Academic Counsellor at Kingston University.
With over 30 years of leadership experience, I have consistently transformed siloed academic structures into collaborative, innovation-driven environments. My work spans curriculum design and consultancy for UK and international higher education institutions across design, computing, and engineering. I have developed a wide range of successful undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that foster creative thinking through making and respond to the evolving educational landscape.
My doctorate in Information Systems Design (KU/RCA) applied systems and agile design principles to transdisciplinary learning models in industry contexts, accelerating innovation. My research explores systems design at the intersection of second-order cybernetics and organisational theory, focusing on learning practices that reshape siloed cultures into dynamic, creative communities.
I am a member of the American Society for Cybernetics (ASC) and co-lead TheReadingGroup alongside Kate Doyle, TJ McLeish, and Patricia Machado Alvarez, a think tank for embodied research, learning, and creative archiving that is a nested studio initiative within the international #NewMacy movement (founded by Paul Pangaro in 2020).
