About
Dr M. Rehan Usman brings a wealth of multidisciplinary expertise to his role as a senior lecturer in cyber security at Kingston University (KU) London. With diverse academic background spanning telecommunications engineering, project management, and IT convergence Engineering, he is uniquely positioned to drive innovation and excellence in both research and teaching.
As an accomplished researcher and supervisor, with a PhD in IT Convergence Engineering, he has garnered extensive experience in cutting-edge areas such as 6G and beyond HetNets, medical IoT, cyber security, Quality of Experience (QoE) and AI applications in healthcare and smart cities. With a track record of collaborations across international boundaries, his research endeavours have led to over 45 publications in top-tier journals and conferences. To date he has successfully supervised around 24 undergraduate, 8 masters and 2 PhD students.
He has a decade-long diverse experience in designing and delivering modules in computer science, networks and communication fields. At his previous institution, his administrative positions spanned from leading curriculum review and quality improvement committees to being head of postgraduate studies, where he played a pivotal role in reshaping graduate and undergraduate programs to meet industry demands and academic standards of Pakistan.
Moreover, his professional impact extends beyond academia, demonstrated through his diverse roles: as an organiser of CPD workshops in collaboration with Pakistan Engineering Council (2018–2023), co-chief organiser for IEEE ICEET (2018–2021), Pleasure of acting as session chair in IEEE CCNC 2019 and TPC for several prestigious IEEE conferences including, VTC, CCNC, GLOBECOM etc. and as reviewer to multiple prestigious journals.
Currently, Dr Rehan is serving as the chair for Digital Healthcare Vertical Industries Platform (VIP) Working Group in the Wireless World Research Forum (WWRF) and has recently joined Kingston University where he is actively involved in research supervision. He is open for outstanding PhD applicants with excellent research record.
