About
British pianist, Phillip Leslie is known for his captivating playing and diverse programming. Praised for his sense of “culture and refinement” (Liszt Society) and described as “a real artist” by the Keyboard Charitable Trust, he made his Southbank Centre debut in 2019. He has performed across the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden and France including performances at Salle Cortot, Steinway Hall, Palau de la Musica, St John’s Smith Square, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Göteborgs Konserthus, Castellon Auditorio, Cadogan Hall, Bridgewater Hall and the Wigmore Hall.
A Park Lane Group Artist and Keyboard Charitable Trust Artist, he was the recipient of the Weingarten Prize and Silver Medal Keyboard Award for his studies. He was an Emerging Artist for the Usher Hall’s 2023/24 season presenting works by Debussy and Bartok.
Phillip has performed new commissions from Ian Stephens, Peter Copley and the LSO/Panufnik Symposium and has given anniversary recitals celebrating the music of Kenneth Leighton (Reid Concert Hall) and Gustav Holst (Holst 150: Pallant House Gallery). A laureate of competitions including the Liszt International Piano Society, Vrsac International Chamber Music Festival, Anton Rubinstein and Gothenburg International Piano Competitions and has worked with Orchestras including the Scottish Sinfonia and the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras.
Phillip has broadcast on BBC Radio and has appeared at Endellion, English Music Festival, Hertfordshire, Concerts of the Tempietto and Perth Festival. He studied at Trinity Laban, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, RNCM and L’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris. He currently teaches at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance and Kingston University.
