About
I joined the midwifery department at Kingston University as a senior midwifery lecturer, bringing with me a wealth of clinical and educational experience. I contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, with a particular focus on enhancing student learning through innovative, evidence-based practice. I am actively involved in curriculum development and student support, and I take pride in helping future midwives build the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.
My career in healthcare began with nursing, followed by midwifery training that led to a variety of roles across the NHS. These included rotational posts, delivery suite coordination, antenatal and postnatal care, and working within high-risk maternity teams. I also spent time as a nurse advisor in the private sector, teaching anatomy, physiology, and disease management. Later, as a Practice Development Midwife, I was responsible for staff training, recruitment, and mentoring newly qualified midwives.
As lead for midwifery admissions, I am deeply committed to Kingston University’s widening participation agenda. I work to ensure that applicants from all backgrounds have fair access to midwifery education, supporting a diverse student body that reflects the communities we serve. This role allows me to champion inclusive recruitment practices and contribute to the development of a future workforce that is both skilled and socially aware.
I am passionate about education and committed to Kingston University’s Future Skills agenda, which empowers students to develop creativity, resilience, empathy, and adaptability—qualities essential for modern midwifery practice. Being part of a diverse and forward-thinking academic community allows me to contribute meaningfully to both student success and the wider healthcare profession.
