About
I am a registered pharmacist with keen interest in community practice and the direct impact it has on public health. I graduated from Kingston University in 2010 with a First Class Honours Masters in Pharmacy degree and pursued a career in community pharmacy after completing my pre-registration year at St. George's Hospital. I took on a number of roles including relief pharmacist and store manager for Boots.
I joined Kingston University as a teaching fellow in pharmacy practice in September 2022. I continue to work in the community as a pharmacist along with my role at the university, allowing me to bring my experience into teaching. I am now currently a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice as well as co-Course Director of the MPharm Course.
In 2024, I was successful in securing a fully funded doctoral studentship from the South East Doctoral Training Arc (SEDarc) under the thematic pathway of healthy, thriving communities.
Qualifications
- MPharm (Hons) First Class
- Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
Domains
As a senior lecturer, I am very passionate about teaching and supporting pharmacy students to reach their potential as future pharmacists. Since joining the university in 2022, I have drawn on my professional experience in community pharmacy to bring real-world context into my teaching, helping students connect theory to practice. Alongside my teaching role, I am also a personal tutor, providing pastoral and academic support to my students, as well as a clinical tutor, guiding students to reflect on their learning and professional growth throughout their journey towards becoming pharmacists.
I am also currently serving as the co-Course director for the MPharm programme. My key duties include managing the course team; understanding and upholding the course regulations; ensuring academic standards are met; coordinating quality assurance processes; acting as a key contact for students and colleagues/teams within the university; addressing student concerns; ensuring a cohesive learning experience; and contributing to the overall student wellbeing and success.

Courses taught
In 2024, I was successful in securing a fully funded doctoral studentship and training from the South East Doctoral Training Arc (SEDarc). SEDarc, who are in turn funded by the Economic and Social Council (ESRC), support postgraduate researchers in undertaking impactful doctoral research. My research topic falls under the thematic pathway of healthy, thriving communities.
My doctoral research explores maternal health disparities in the UK, with a particular focus on understanding the experiences as well as the birth and maternal outcomes of Black women during the perinatal period. Despite the UK’s well-established maternity services, persistent inequalities remain, with Black women facing a significantly higher risk of adverse maternal and birth outcomes compared with other groups. My work seeks to identify the social, cultural, and structural factors that contribute to these disparities and to inform more inclusive, culturally competent care pathways.
